How to upgrade

To upgrade blabws-server-pro simply stop the service, replace the files under /opt/blabws-server-pro with the new ones and start the websocket service.

A websocket service and a websocket server are the same thing. We call the server part of our chat software a websocket service rather than a websocket server to easily distinguish it from web servers, MySQL servers, hosting servers, DHCP servers. Websocket service = websocket server = blabws-server-pro

Upgrade BlaB! WS Pro client

Method 1: with overwriting

Navigate to AdminCP with your browser. Download the UPDATE ONLY pack from our support center, unzip and overwrite your existing installation. Press F5 to reload AdminCP - this will update the database.

The UPDATE ONLY pack is identical to the full initial pack with the following files/folders removed: /attachments /avatars /backgrounds /install /stickers config.php emocodes.php emoticons.css errors.txt soundspro.js ext/custom.php

Method 2: in a new folder

Download the FULL PACK from our support center, unzip the files in a new empty directory e.g. /chat_new and remove /install, /attachments and config.php
Upload /chat_new (and all files/subdirectories in it) to your server with an FTP program.
Move your current config.php file and /attachments folder to /chat_new.
Navigate with your browser to /chat_new/admin - the database will be updated automatically.
