How to upgrade

The upgrade process of BlaB! AX Pro just like any other PHP/MySQL app involves replacing the files with their latest version and updating the database. The second part, updating the database, is performed automatically from the AdminCP of BlaB! AX Pro.

Method 1: FTP Upload

  1. Navigate to the AdminCP of BlaB! AX Pro with your browser and leave the browser tab open. Why? You might be unable to login when you replace the files and the database is not yet updated.
  2. In another browser tab navigate to our support center and download the UPDATE ONLY pack.
  3. Unzip the UPDATE ONLY pack in a folder and overwrite your existing installation. In other words - upload the unzipped files and folders with an FTP program to the folder where your current installation resides and confirm when your FTP program asks whether to overwrite existing files and folders.
  4. In the browser tab where you left your AdminCP: press F5 to reload - this will update the database.

That's all.

The UPDATE ONLY pack is identical to the full initial pack but with the following files and folders removed: /attachments /avatars /backgrounds /install /stickers config.php emocodes.php emoticons.css errors.txt soundspro.js ext/custom.php

Method 2: Cpanel

  1. Navigate to the AdminCP of BlaB! AX Pro with your browser and leave the browser tab open. Why? You might be unable to login when you replace the files and the database is not yet updated.
  2. In another browser tab navigate to our support center and download the FULL PACK.
  3. Upload the ZIP file to your webhosting server web-root directory: public_html from Cpanel File Manager.
  4. Right click on the newly uploaded ZIP file and select Extract.
  5. Rename the extracted blabax-pro folder to newchat (or whatever you wish but different from your current chat folder) and delete the subfolder /install.
  6. With Cpanel File Manager copy or move config.php and /attachments from your old chat folder to the new chat folder.
  7. In the browser tab where you left your AdminCP navigate to YOUR-URL.COM/newchat/admin.php which will update the database.
  8. From Cpanel File Manager delete your old chat folder and rename newchat to whatever you wish.

That's all.
